Priscilla Baierlein is currently the Training/Publications Coordinator for the DEC Training Network, where she oversees day-to-day training needs, as well as, develops program brochures and posters. Priscilla attended Eastern Kentucky University, where she graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Studies. Priscilla has been with the DEC Training Network since February 2006. Prior to working for the DEC Training Network, she held the position as Community Services Coordinator at Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky.
Sharlee Shirley Burch is a Registered Dental Hygienist and a Program Coordinator for the Drug Endangered Children Training Network at the University of Kentucky’s College of Public Health Center for Prevention Research. She received a Baccalaureate Dental Hygiene Degree and Master of Public Health Degree both from Western Kentucky University. Mrs. Burch was the first Extension Oral Health Specialist in the Nation, developing the Oral Health Wellness and Disease Prevention Program, a unique partnership between the UK College of Dentistry and College of Agriculture in the Health Education through Extension Leadership Project. Mrs. Burch was Kentucky’s first ever Spit Tobacco Education Coordinator and Director of the Kentucky Quit Spit Program as well as the Oral Cancer Self Screening Kit Project for the Kentucky Department of Public Health Oral Health Program. Mrs. Burch is a Past President and Past Speaker of the House of Delegates of the Kentucky Dental Hygienists’ Association and currently serves as KDHA Webmaster. She is a national speaker and educator who is also a member of the Sigma Phi Alpha Dental Hygiene Honor Society.
Holly Hopper is the Chair of the Kentucky Alliance for Drug Endangered Children, and the Principle Investigator of the Appalachian Regional Commission-funded Drug Endangered Child Training Network, located in the University of Kentucky, College of Public Health, Center for Prevention Research. She has developed meth land safety program “Walk Your Land” and home visitor safety program, “Meth: Too Close to Home” She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Studies and a Master of Rehabilitation Counseling degree from the University of Kentucky and is currently pursuing a Public Health Doctorate. She has worked with children, adults, and families in a variety of clinical and community settings. Holly has spoken nationally on issues related to drug endangerment of children and sees proper identification and care of children affected by adult drug activity key to impacting the impact of substance abuse on the next generation of Kentuckians.
Jessica Mullins is a Data Coordinator for the Drug Endangered Child Training Network at the University of Kentucky’s College of Public Health Center for Prevention Research. She received a Baccalaureate Degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky and is currently pursuing a Master of Social Work at UK as well.
Doug Burnham Doug Burnham is an Extension Health Specialist with the HEEL (Health Education Through Extension Leadership) program at the University of Kentucky. He holds a joint position in the College of Agriculture and the College of Social Work. He is Professor Emeritus at Eastern Kentucky University where he served 27 years as the Director of the Social Work Program. In 1992 he was named EKU Foundation Professor, the universities highest honor for teaching excellence. For four years he served as the Vice President of the National Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors. Doug was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Kentucky Public Child Welfare Certification Program, and has written and presented widely on child welfare training. He has a long history of advocacy for families and children, serving as Chair of the Kentucky Citizen’s Foster Care Review Board, a member of numerous state tasks forces, committees, and legislative work groups, Chair of the Governing Board of the Fayette County Primary Health Care Council, and a long standing member on the Board of Directors at the Bluegrass Rape Crisis Center and the South End Community Empowerment Center. Since 2003 Doug has served as a member of the Kentucky Suicide Prevention Work Group in the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse. Recently Doug has become involved in a number of state and local initiatives on substance abuse, including serving on the Strategic Planning Framework State Incentive Grant, Strategic Planning Committee and Advisory Committee, as well as the Kentucky Alliance for Drug Endangered Children. He is presently working as a part of the staff of the Drug Endangered Child Training Network.
